Transformation of Boarding Gate at HKIA Terminal Buildings

Client :
Hong Kong Airport Authority

Contractor :
Union Construction (Group) Ltd.

Period
2019 to 2022
Building Scope:
The project will be based on a hypothetical scenario that the forty-night (49) Boarding Gates of Terminal 1 of Hong Kong International Airport would be closed for revamp with the shortest construction period. Due to the complexity of its works nature and to cater to ongoing works within the airport, the course of works for each phase, quality, health and safety, environmental protection, buildability, DfMA and maintenance will be discussed and analyzed through the BIM model. In the demolition and refurbishment of each phase, the team concentrates on the following key issues during the construction stage.
BIM Scope of Works:
- As-Construction BIM Modeling including Landscape, Arch, Structure & MEP
- The BIM model shall constantly be kept up to date to facilitate the coordination between various disciplines and resolving conflicts for DFMA.
- BIM Consultant shall continuously update and submit the works in the 3D BIM format.
- To support the constructability, operability, accessibility, maintainability and building quality by 4D-BIM simulation and propose visual means such as interactive 3D model which can walk through / fly through inside the model.
- To perform clash detection between components of the BIM models, e.g. clashes among architectural, structural and building services elements, etc.
- Delivery of the LOD500 BIM model for asset management and operation.
